🛶 Our Florida Pontoon Makeover Story
I’ll be honest, our old pontoon boat was looking pretty rough. The carpet was stained, holding mildew, and got dangerously slick. We love being out on Florida waters, but the deck made us nervous, especially with two little kids running around.
I started researching boat decking options. I looked at marine carpet, vinyl, paint, even textured coatings. But everything either seemed too expensive to install or looked like it wouldn’t last in the sun and salt.
I’d heard about EVA foam boat flooring from other boaters at our local dock. A neighbor had this camo grooved EVA foam and swore by it, saying it stayed cool, grippy, and didn’t get that nasty wet-carpet smell.
⚓ Why We Chose EVA Foam Boat Flooring
What really sold me was how BoatFloorings described it:
-
Anti-slip marine flooring for safety (even with kids and a dog).
-
UV-resistant and waterproof to handle Florida’s sun and rain.
-
Cushioned feel for bare feet, way better than hot vinyl.
-
DIY install with pre-applied adhesive.
I liked that it came in patterns like camo grooved, diamond, and stripe, so you could actually make your boat look custom without paying a fortune.
🛠️ Installing It Myself
I’m no contractor, but the install was surprisingly easy. I cleaned the old deck really well, let it dry, measured twice, and peeled the backing.
It took me about a weekend to finish, doing it slow and careful. The marine-grade adhesive held tight, and cutting around seats and hatches wasn’t hard with a sharp blade.
☀️ Living with It So Far
After months of use—salt spray, sand, dragging coolers around—it still looks great. It’s easy to hose off, and it doesn’t get hot enough to burn feet.
My wife loves that there’s no mildew smell. The kids can run around without slipping. Even our labrador has stopped sliding everywhere.
We chose a camo grooved EVA foam flooring for the style, but BoatFloorings had plenty of options. I’m actually thinking about getting their diamond pattern EVA foam for our jet ski trailer deck next.
💡 Why I’d Recommend It
If you’re researching marine flooring options and want something:
-
Affordable (ours was cheaper than having carpet reinstalled)
-
Durable and UV-resistant
-
Anti-slip and safe for families
-
Easy to install yourself
…I’d seriously consider EVA foam boat flooring.
BoatFloorings shipped it quickly, had clear instructions, and the quality really impressed me. It’s transformed our old pontoon from something we were embarrassed about to something friends actually compliment.
👉 Final Thoughts
Upgrading your boat floor doesn’t have to cost thousands or require a pro. EVA foam boat flooring is a realistic DIY option that delivers serious value.
If you’re tired of rotting carpet or slick vinyl, give it a look. I’m glad we did.
